Abstract

This study sought to determine the attitude of university teaching personnel and the problems being faced in the

implementation of effective supervision of instruction. The present study involved 72 selected university

lecturers in Uganda who responded to a questionnaire to measure their attitude and responses on classroom

supervision. The result showed that supervision of instruction is done regularly and faculty had positive attitude

toward it. However, it was shown that those who are conducting supervision of instruction need further training

in the area of clinical supervision of instruction. The faculty members strongly agree that supervision of

instruction should be attached to some form of remuneration. It is recommended that effective process of

supervision of instruction be implemented by deans and heads of department.
